When I began attending the university, I was unsure of what career path to take, all I knew was that I wanted to help others in any way I could. I was in between pursuing my Bachelor’s in Psychology or Nursing. After taking psychology courses, I realized how much I loved it and wanted to focus on just psychology. I’ve worked as a Behavioral Interventionist and I loved it. Learning about many individuals on the spectrum and being able to understand them at a much deeper level was amazing. It helped me determine what career path I was looking for after graduating.
I obtained my Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles in June of 2023. I plan to pursue my Master’s in Social Work. My goal in life is to help as many individuals understand that it is okay to not be okay and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Witnessing many individuals in my family struggle with mental health illnesses and not knowing where or how to receive help has pushed me to want to become an advocate for others in our society and help them in any way that I could. One of my favorite quotes is “Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn't mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.” — Lisa Olivera. I plan to experience more within the field as I begin working as an Administrative Assistant.
